October 10, 2015: Sharon Bloomingdale missed the usual nine months of preparation for being a grandmother when her daughter surprised her with news of her first adopted child.

A US woman was caught on camera in the middle of a very emotional moment when her daughter surprised her at work by introducing her to her new adopted granddaughter.

When they began the adoption process Laura and Josh Dell did not expect to receive a child within three weeks.

So when the couple was quickly matched up with a newborn baby girl they decided to surprise Mrs Dell’s mother, Sharon Bloomingdale, who was adopted herself, with her new granddaughter, the Huffington Post reports.

“She didn’t expect it that fast at all,” Mrs Dell said.

As soon as they picked up their new daughter Ellie, Mr and Mrs Dell drove to Ms Bloomingdale’s workplace to introduce them.

Before bringing Ellie in, Mrs Dell handed her mother a baby onesie and straight away Ms Bloomindale began to cry.

“Do you have a baby in there?” she cried.

Mrs Dell brought her around the corner and introduced her to Ellie as the new grandma broke down into tears.

“After the video ended, she walked around the office with Ellie and told everyone, ‘When I came to work this morning I wasn’t a grandma and now I am’,” Ms Dell said.

Because her mother was adopted Mrs Dell said adoption is an important cause for their family.

“We love adoption and there are so many kids out there that need a home,” she said.

“Next month is National Adoption Month, so we decided this would be a way to show people how beautiful adoption is.”
